Bringing awareness to SCI

Posted 04-21-2008 at 12:47 PM by c5c7
As you know since 2004 I have started documenting and producing documentaries and videos about my life as a quad. My first documentary I made with the great help of my friends and family ''A City Called Heaven'' was my first documentary that received good views and played in festivals accepted by the organizations who did the seminars because of it's content and message.

Since then I entered many different online contest win or lose but to bring awareness to spinal cord injury. In the sake of continuing to bring awareness I tried not using many different forum because of feeling the moderators may assume it as spamming. I in no way wish to offend or bring hostility towards anyone's means of networking so because of the director in this event I feel a successful effect towards my advocacy for spinal cord injury needs your support.

I shortened my full feature documentary into a shorter explanation on my life as a quad. Please read the info below and send me any questions if you have any. Below is an update on my entry and how you can help.

P.S. I entered to bring awareness to the issue, hoping to inspire, although you’ll read if I win I win money, the getting paid isn’t my purpose of doing this although the money will help do more work, it’s just not many individuals out there with actual different abilities in the entertainment world unless they were already famous, I do this for people I know who are models, athletes, comedians and more but are overlooked. Just to show you a few of the talented people I’m working for to bring diversity into magazines, movies and videos, here’s a few.

Dear Friends,

Help me win the Babelgum Online Film Festival!

My film, “This is my life”, is competing in the Short Film category and needs more votes to make the shortlist. So please give me a helping hand by voting for it yourself – it’s pretty simple:

· Download Babelgum here: http://www.babelgum.com/download

· Enter the Films & Festivals Community (it’s the first one on the top left corner when you start Babelgum) and search for my film: This is my life

· Use the Rate tool to give it your vote – 5 stars please!

If I win, I’ll be heading to Cannes to pick up my award of 20,000 Euros from Spike Lee, on May 20th. I’d love you to come with me and sip champagne while rubbing shoulders with the stars…and maybe you can. Because Babelgum is offering a prize for the person who writes the most original review of the winning films, using the Comment tool or Message Board. Write a glowing review about my entry and if I win, you win!

Thanks for your support

Dear Filmmaker,

Voting Update

As previously announced, at the end of this week (April 25th 200 the ten top rated films in each category will be presented to our jury of industry experts.

The jurors will then pick their top 2 choices from each category to be presented to Spike Lee – yes, that’s 2 not 3, because we’ve now decided to leave the third film in each shortlist up to the audience.

In fact, the Festival has been so well received that we’re going to give more power to the audience and extend the public voting period until May 7th. On that date, the top rated film in each category will go to Spike Lee along with the two jury’s choices.

This means you now have two more weeks left to spread the word about your film and get more votes. We’d like to hear from you if you have any ideas on how to promote your entries in this final push!
