I think it will become worse before it will get better. People will eventually learn that you can't beat a dead horse. Just think about all the magazines, websites, flyers, mixtapes, model searches in clubs, etc. emerged.
Every club night has a model search, people now dont even care anymore.
Mixtapes use to be powerful but then with itunes people figure I just download some songs, put them together, make a mixtape hire a graphic designer for a cover and bam I am a mixtape dj. Mixtapes went from $10 to $2.00. Then people cried about the legal issue, well if mixtapes are done the way they should they help the music business more than hurt them. It is all these new comers that killed it because they look to make a quick buck and instant fame.
Good example is DJ Smallz, he is a Pro Tools DJ, he can't mix or blend, he is one example what happened to the game. Nobody knew who he was for about 2 years because he was too afraid to put himself out there because of 1 the legality issue and 2 because how he put the cd's together. He would rename songs so that people thought that he had new versions of songs, he would take clips of interviews and label them hosted by:_______________ everything he did was against the rules of the game. He inspired all these other wanna be's. People don't like quality if they did they wouldn't buy bootleg.
A TRUE PRO, will not shy away from investing in his career, a real photgrapher will not shy away from purchasing the expensive camera to advance his trade. Any professional will invest in advancement. One thing I have learned that major business will look at several small things to determine your legitamacy. Your email address: if you use a @yahoo, gmail, hotmail or any of the free services it will mark you, no website and giving them a myspace. They look at it at the you want them to spend several thousands of dollars but you don't even have the bare necessities to be a professional. There are so many little things that make or break a deal. A company rather deal with someone that has their ish together. You ever wonder what the difference is between your local coffee shop or Starbucks?
