According to Page Six, Oprah Winfrey confirmed that Alicia Keys will be starring in an upcoming Lena Horne biopic that originally had Janet Jackson attached to it. Oprah will be producing under her Harpo Films banner most likely in co-production with Alicia's existing film production company Big Pita, Little Pita. “We’re going to start filming next year,” Oprah said of her Lena Horne biopic. “And we’ve got Alicia.”


Oprah's Harpo Films is releasing the upcoming Denzel Washington pic The Great Debaters while Alicia's Big Pita, Little Pita Productions which was formed in a production deal with Disney, still is waiting to get two potential films developed, the modern day fairy tale Bell, Book and Candle and the Deep-South film Catfish.

But the script has to be air tight. Oprah has the resources true, but until recently she tends to produce films with a "tele-play" vibe. She better allow the screen writers to show their asses. That was the key to the success of "Ray". Jamie was the perfect person for the role "as it was written".

Alicia will definitely have to a.c.t. to pull this off. Lena is like my Grandmother and Aunts on my Dads side. "Bougie Bells". It'll be interesting
to see her lose that new school swagger.
