Post Spike Lee's "Inside Man" sequel moving forward

Spike Lee's "Inside Man" sequel moving forward
posted on Sep 8, 2008

According to THR, a sequel to Spike Lee's "Inside Man" is moving forward at Universal. Lee says he is excited to be working on a sequel to "Inside Man" (2006) which earned more than $175 million at the worldwide box office and centered on a standoff between a bank robber (Clive Owens) and a hostage negotiator (Denzel Washington) at a New York bank. Universal Pictures' tentatively titled "Inside Man 2" would revisit the lives of those characters but would not follow the storyline of the original.

Lee said the screenplay may be written by Terry George ("Hotel Rwanda"), who is in negotiations to write the screenplay. Russell Gewirtz penned the original "Inside Man." "I want the script to be even better than Russell's, and Russell wrote a really good script," Lee said.

Lee told the Reporter both Washington and Owens have expressed interest in re-teaming for the second go-around.

Brian Grazer will produce via his Imagine Entertainment banner, with Lee and Daniel Rosenberg executive producing.

This was a deep a** movie. It was after my 3rd time that I truly "got" the message
"Better to be judged by 12, than carried by 6" -

We Own The Night, Mark Whalberg- thats deep

I could see Denzel's character returning but Owens? A different adversary would make sense to me.
