Re: MySpace vs Facebook

I'm really serious about this question. What does a person "Do" on Myspace. I understand the building of a page, the addition of "friends", posting pics and the posting of music ( its best feature to me). But other than that, what do you do after the page is built?
"I left the east side for a west coast beauty, A girl who burned my thoughts like kisses
She was down by street decree, She swore she'd pull my best years out of me
Fat painted lips on a live wire beauty, A tangerine girl with tambourine eyes
Her face was my favourite magazine, Her body was my favourite book to read
They say that all poets must have and unrequited love -As all lovers must have thought provoking fears
But holding on to you means letting go on pain
Means letting go of tears, Means letting go of rain, Means letting go of what's not real
Holding on to you" (Sananda Maitreya, TTD )

Re: MySpace vs Facebook

My space is more commercial to me you can easily have thousands of friends you don't actually know, I like Facebook for connecting with people from my past instead of random people.

MySpace and FaceBook are excellent for driving traffic. The word "friend" is just a term. Online it means different things. In this case the word "friend" means "network". MySpace and FaceBook drove about 25% of my traffic in July of 08. With it growing about 5% since.

Plus the advent of open social, facebook connect, the twitter API, and Open ID make it possible to manipulate all sites and communicate with all networks from one site.

Everything I post on my forum MMT hits twitter, facebook, and myspace immediately.

To the average Joe these sites may not mean much. But they allow online communities the ability to reach out and communicate with massive amounts of people as easily as a large corporation.

Since just about everyone makes a MySpace page you use it to get in touch with folks.

'Remember that real hot chick with the crispy hair on the drill team that you didn't have the balls to ask out? Now you can search her name, and maybe, just maybe by this time she's realized that the linebacker or quarterback wasn't the best person to marry, and after 10 years of his **** she's just now signed the divorce papers and she's drunk and lonely and blurping about how she's going to screw the brains out of the next man that shows interest in her, but it's hopeless, because's she divorced and who could possibly want her, now, and she's desperate and goes to check her MySpace messages swearing to GOD ALMIGHTY that if HE blesses her with a man's message she will screw that man purple and blue no matter who he is or what he looks like, and she checks the message and sees it's you and that you live just 5 minutes away...

...Yeah...you know what the **** MySpace is for!

Ha!! How'd you know Chrysty? But she was a majorette.

I understand all that. Both sites are similar. In this scenario Facebook encourages stalking. While Myspace encourages lying and posing. And Craigslist highlights escorts and robbery. ( Any good idea can be used for the forces of evil and stupidity)

My only gripe with Myspace is the layouts. If you go to some pages it might trigger a seizure with the blinking artwork and uncontrollable music streaming.

( ...and as far as Chrysty goes we still hit it when we want. Ahhhh... the benefits of maturity.)
