to write?

When did you realize that you wanted to become a writer?

Can you remeber the first piece you wrote?

Well what inspires me to write is an abundance of emotion, all of my pieces are charged with emotion whether people like them or not they always comment on the fact that they feel a lot of emotion in them. So far as when i knew i wanted to be a poet,( I remember it like it was yesterday) I wrote a love poem to a girl in high school that made her cry. After i saw that I was hooked. The God given ability to convey to someone in no uncertain terms your emotions and thoughts is euphoric in person I stumble over words from time to time but on paper I am completely comfortable, there is a joy in helping people release their emotions, and sometimes people just like to know that there is at least one other person who can relate to thier hurt, love, pleasure, depression, or whatever. I can express all these things through the pen that bleeds for me.
The Spirit must be cultivated; if it is not, a tragic short coming of awareness in the warrior wil result.

Who inspired me to write was my high school drama teacher Ms.Marino and four off broadway actors who visisted the class twice a week.My final was a 15 pages play that I wrote it the night before the deadline and recieved the highest grade. The actors told me it was the best play they read out of the three high schools they visited. from that point on I wanted to write screenplays .
As for what inspires me now. Bad black movies get me going everytime. I wrote my first screenplay after I told people I can do better than most of the nonsense that was out. As long as their are bad black movies out there I will never stop writing.

When did you realize that you wanted to become a writer? When I was in 6th grade, my teacher (who was in her late 20s, fine and "black" and I had a crush on her) had an assignment for us to write what we all thought as our meaning of peace. I really didn't think to hard but I put pencil to paper and began to write. One line that I can really still remember is "Peace is like a dove descending from God's hands". When it came time for our stuff to be graded, my teacher said that there was one piece that stood out from the rest and she read my essay. She was so impressed, she had a smile on her face the entire time she read it and gave me the highest grade on that assignment in the class: A big fat "F". Just Kidding. I got an A+ ! I was so happy it wasn't funny. I guess it was then that I found I had a gift to write and a way with words.

That was for prose/literature. For poetry, in my 12th grade English Lit class, we were going over poetry. I noticed how much I actually LIKED reading the poetry in front of me and decided to write a poem of my own. I've been writing since then off and on. This was back in '91-'92.

Can you remeber the first piece you wrote? Aside from the aforementioned essay, the first poem I wrote is very foggy in my mind but it was a love poem that my 12th grade Eglish Lit Teacher (Rest her soul) said was too mature for someone my age but she liked it and joked that I had someone to give it to (which if anyone knows me, I was too big a nerd and *****cat to even GET a date, although I could have scored a lot of trim if I so accepted the offers i had since 6th grade).

Black people have become somewhat racist within themselves to a certain degree; it pisses me off to hear from a black person "she's pretty to be a dark skinned girl". As if dark skinned girls aren't pretty. BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY WAY!!!!!! - tatiana23

Life. I never really wrote except for in school/homework becaue my sister and brother are both so talented when it comes to writing poems and stories. Then one day I was really at a low point in life and I just started writing, and that is how I write most of my songs, when I'm overcome with emotion, whether its happy or sad, the words just flow. Also the fact that my grandmother was such a good writer inspires me when I have a deadline, and I get writers block, thinking of her always helps.

Pain can be a great inspiration

It was in the 12th grade, but I only do it as a hobby

the first peice i wrote was surprisingly good

“Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.”
