Most of the board regulars from "back in the day" remember a vampire-themed story I did featuring members of the board. I never got to finish it because the computer I had back then crashed and I lost the work. So now, years later I want to make up for it. This is the new, revamped version of Dark Corner. (Are you happy Soul, now I'm posting it)
Below is the outline of the story for those not familiar with it. This is for you all to get to know the characters in the story and what their roles are and what it's about.
These's are the main characters by screenname and name.
Shardaye - Sha - The Neteru
Skip2MyLuu - Kenya - The Mother-Seer
LRaine - Leah - Best Friend of the Neteru
RamSOS - Ram - Guardian
Sanchez - Sanchez - Master Vampire
Lil_Soul - Chris - Second Level Vampire
KrystalMeredith1 - Krystal - Second Level Vampire
Locutus 2.0 - Shawn - Guardian
MrFlava - Drew - Guardian
Kai - Dauntae - Guardian
SkaN*gga - Jay - Guardian
IMAX - Chuck - Guardian
and more will be added as the story moves along.
Character Synopsis
The Neteru and her team of Guardian protectors are a non-biological family of unlikely heroes that have come together for a common cause-to thwart evil, specifically, vampiric evil. Each has lived their own private horror, which has razor-honed their special gifts and thrust them into this strange clan of vampire hunters.
The Neteru:
Sha is the vampire huntress. She, like her guardian brothers and sisters, possesses special gifts. Unlike them, she is Omnivoyant which means she possesses all six area of extrasensory perception plus a seventh that is only held by one of her rank as a Neteru.
The Guardians:
Kenya is the seer of the group. She possesses the gift of Second Sight. The resident healer and den mother of the group.
Ram is a Tactical. He feels the unseen. He is the father figure for the Guardian team.
Chuck has the gift of audio sensory. He can hear what the spirits whisper.
Dauntae is the nose of the group. Olfactory senses. He can smell trouble brewing, especially demonic trouble.
Drew possesses the gifts of olfactory and taste and is an expert tracker. He is also Dauntae’s right hand.
Shawn is a Tactical and Ram’s right hand man. The wizard of the group and weapons specialist.
Jay is a Tactical as well. He is the newest member of the Guardian team and a reluctant one.
Leah, though not a Guardian, is the Neteru’s rock. She’s the one that Sha will go to when she need to chill out from her “night job”. Leah keeps her sane.
The Vampires:
Chris is a vampire on edge, caught in the perilous unseen gap between both worlds. He is a master strategist. The way he plays with people is like a chess game....he studies them...studies their moves...and thinks over his own moves before delivering a deadly blow.
Sanchez is evil incarnate, a Master vampire who comes from a long line of predators. Descended from Dracula, beware of his seductive talents. His allure is beyond mortal. He is the deadly type...in your face deadly...he will not hesitate to suck the blood out of you and kill you. Yet he finds an almost childlike humor in baiting his prey before he destroys them. Yes, he will play with your head before he takes it off.
Krystal is the daughter of Kenya. She was turned by Sanchez in his pursuit of the Neteru. She now serves at Sanchez’s right hand and has a deep hatred for her mother and the Neteru.
Both Chris and Krystal are second level vampires. Second levels are some of the strongest vampires around. They are beholden only to the Master vampires that made them. It’s a cycle. Masters beget Second Levels, Second Levels beget Thirds…and as the levels diminish, so does power. Once you get beyond Third Levels, you can’t even bare fangs.
This story is about the never-ending struggle between good and evil. Love plays a major factor in it: The love of humanity, love of family, and loving the world enough to have a commitment to something greater than oneself, and of course this is about the love between one man and one woman. This Guardian team has been ordained by the Light to defend a world shadowed by darkness.
Prologue and Chapter 1 are up next.

Chapter 5
Chapter 5
The next night…
Sanchez stared at Krystal, in human form, hard as she sauntered into the lair. “Where were you last night?” he demanded, a threat in his voice.
“Out feeding,” she said icily, sashaying past him, stopping abruptly when he caught her by the arm. “You were meditating--so I didn’t want to bother you.”
“I should rip out your throat. Don’t you ever leave this lair without my express permission and don’t ever think about bedding down somewhere else. When I came back, I needed you.”
Krystal touched his face, her hand cupping his cheek. “I thought you were going to play with the Huntress all night so--”
Baring full fangs, his snarl stopped her words, but her triumphant smile remained to taunt him. “It went that well in Eden, huh? She’s a tough little b*tch.”
A sudden backhand slap made her head jerk. Blood oozed from the corner of her mouth. She remained very still as he paced away from her and turned slowly to look at her as though summoning his dignity. Krystal dabbed the black trickle with her fingers and held them out to him.
“Sorry I wasn’t here to take the sting out of the situation, but I am here now.”
“Have you any idea how long it takes to set up a strategy like the one I’ve devised? Do you know the planning and patience and sheer intellect required to pull off something of this magnitude?!” Against his will, his voice had escalated upon every word he spat out. He was breathing hard by the time he finished his statement, and it was all he could do not to extinguish Krystal on the spot.
“I can get to her,’’ Krystal said very carefully. “I know how her mother-seer thinks because she was my mother. I can get her to let her guard down if that’s what you want.”
“And how would you do that?” Sanchez whispered through his fangs.
“By going after Kenya…weakening her mother-seer will weaken her.”
“Not even you can do that, my dear Krystal. I already have a sure proof way of getting to the Huntress.”
“Through Santiago? Her sense of duty is stronger than her sense of love for the guy, if there really is any at all. She’ll stake him before he even gets close to her.” Krystal smiled. “Plus, how do you know he’ll do as you say and go after her? If he loves her, he will never kill her. Not even for you.”
“Chris Santiago was made by me. He is beholden to me so he must do what I say or risk extinction. I doubt he’d risk it for a mortal woman he’s never had before.”
“I still don’t trust him.” Krystal circled Sanchez before coming up behind and him and wrapping her arms around his waist, dredging information from him. “So…you took the Huntress to paradise?”
“She didn’t full appreciate it.” He admitted as Krystal traced his jugular with the side of her fang.
“Not like I would. I don’t see why you even entertained the thought of going astral with her. Why go through all of that if you’re just going to kill her? You must really get off on toying with your food.” Krystal frowned.
“I wanted to see where her head was at. Apparently Chris is on the brain. She’s already been compromised by her memories of him as a human.” Sanchez said, smiling.
“If she’s that far gone by mere human memories then she doesn’t stand a chance when she’s in his presence as a vampire. It’s too easy.”
“Darling, nothing is ever too easy.” Sanchez pulled out of Krys’s grasp and turned to face her. “If it was, I would have been able to cut her down on the astral plane. I couldn’t even bend her will enough to get her to grant me an invitation.”
“You aren’t Chris.” Krystal stated.
“Indeed I’m not. I think it’s time to get the ball rolling. It’s time the two of them meet. Her apex is near and I want this done before she reaches it.”
“So you intend to send him after her now? She’d locked beyond the walls of that fortress she calls home, with all of those prayer barriers. Chris won’t be able to get pass all that sh*t.”
“He will with the Huntress’s permission. He’s a smart man. I’m sure he will find a way to get it.”
XXX
Time was of the essence. He stood outside Sha’s compound on the dark side of the road. Sanchez had solicited him only an hour earlier to find a way to weaken Sha’s defenses. Chris agreed only because he wanted to test out his new powers. He didn’t plan on actually killing her…yet. Sanchez had offered him an idea of how to get to her but Chris brushed it off and decided a direct approach was best. Sanchez had called him a bold motherf*cker and agreed to let him do things his way, as long as they were effective. Chris closed his eyes and willed the phone inside of Sha’s compound to ring. A male voice answered and sounded weary. Chris disguised his voice as a woman’s as to not alarm the brothers inside.
“It’s Leah. I need to speak with Sha.”
In the background beyond the mute channel that had been engaged, he could hear mild pandemonium break out as she came to the phone.
“Hey Leah, what’s up girl? Where are you?”
Chris answered in his own voice. “Close by. Wanted to see if I could stop by for a minute. There’s a lot going on and I have info for you.”
“Chris?” Sha quizzed.
“Yes, baby, it’s Chris.”
“What the h*ll?!”
“Permission to enter?” Chris asked in a smooth, controlled voice.
“Get the f*ck out of here! You think I’d invite you inside my house? If you even come near my place I’ll stake your a*s.” Sha said, the threat in her voice evident.
“You don’t understand. I may have turned but that doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten about us. You know I still care about you, baby girl.”
“The lure of the vampire…” Sha said. Chris smiled. The fact that she had not hung up on him told him that she was interested in what he had to say.
“No lure. Just the truth. I’m here because I have some information about Sanchez and what he’s planning against you.”
“Bullsh*t. He’s your master. Why would you go against him, newly made?” Sha spat.
“You know I have always disliked authority. I have no master, least of all Sanchez. I’m here to help you, if you’ll let me. I mean what harm could it be to you if I’m asking to come inside where you’re surrounded by your brothers and mom-seer who could off me without hesitation? Me walking in there is like a death trap. It should say a lot to you that I am willing to risk death…from both sides…to come help you.”
She’d put her hand over the receiver, and then had hit the mute button. An argument was under way. He let out his breath hard. Time was ticking and tonight would be the first and last night he could really help her. He called her in his head. Get back on the phone.
“My peeps don’t think I should let you in. Why don’t you just tell me what you gotta say right here on the phone?”
“Because,” Chris said. “I’m out here in the open. You know who rules the airwaves. I need to get behind a barrier where I wont be heard by anyone who isn’t supposed to hear what I’ve got to say.”
“I don’t know…”
“Just ten minutes, then I’m out--I have other pressing matters to attend to.”
Again, her hand covered the phone and he could hear her battle for him. She didn’t even hit mute this time. Good. Sanchez hadn’t lied when he said she would do anything to be with him. Even go against the Guardians. Real good.
“Okay. You can come in, but I warn you…if you try anything, we will take you out with the quickness. Do you understand?”
“Yes, baby, I understand. Kill all that U.V. light around the crib so I can come in.”
“Done.” Sha hung up the phone. Chris relaxed when he saw the lights around the house go out, but he hesitated for a moment, scanning the terrain to be sure he’d be the only guest, while another part of him became mildly concerned. He wondered if it was a trap set for him…they’d wait until he got to the door and turn the lights back on and fry him on the spot. When he reached the door, Sha and two of her male crew were there. She was unarmed, they weren’t. But he crossed the threshold nonetheless, received a quick hug from her in the dark, and immediately she pulled away from him and led him to the room where the rest of the crew were with the two henchmen at his back.
The hug had destabilized him a bit, but he shook it off. Had to stay focused. This was business. But in the dark…man. Okay. Think.
“Ram--”
“Save the intro, Sha. Me and Chris know each other, or should I say remember each other. Lots of guys in the hood did time for working for him or got killed behind him.”
Chris nodded to Ram. What could he say? It was what it was.
Sha let out her breath hard and extended her arm, moving it slowly as it swept the room. “Dauntae, Shawn, Jay, Chuck, Kenya, and Drew. You’ve met everybody; everybody, meet Chris--or remeet him, whatever. The man came to help. So chill.”
“Speak, vampire,” the one called Chuck said. “Now.”
“Ya’ll now that vampire called Sanchez turned me right? And I’m sure ya’ll know by now that part of his strategy is to use me to get to Sha. He didn’t tell me this right off when he jacked me but after about three weeks of teaching me about this vampire sh*t, he let me in on a few things and turned me loose against her. I’m telling ya’ll now that I’m not down with that sh*t. I ain’t trying to kill baby girl, we’ve got too much history and I still care.”
“Okay, tell us something we don’t know about what Sanchez is planning.” Kenya spoke up.
“He’s got Krystal ready to take you out,” Chris looked over at Kenya. “Watch your back whenever you go out.”
Kenya fell silent. In Chris’s mind he smiled. Yeah, that ought to shut her old a*s up.
“He spoke about Sha’s birthday. Although, he didn’t tell me everything, whatever it is he’s planning has to do with her birthday. Something about an apex.” Chris lied. He tried to make it seem like he was in the dark about much of Sanchez’s plan even though he wasn’t. He lied to them so that they would get the idea that he would work on their side and get info from Sanchez that would help them.
“Interesting, tell us more.” Ram spoke.
“He’s going to unleash some serious hell, I suppose. He said something about the demon-vampire hybrids he created out of an alliance with some demons. These things, I’ve seen them, leave brutal marks when they feed. Instead of two neat puncture wounds, they eat flesh and every other part of the victims’ bodies. Krystal is one of the hybrids he created and is responsible for the spike in deaths we’ve seen around here. That’s why I said watch your back, Kenya, because she does plan to come after you.” Chris watched as the group nodded their heads taking in everything he was saying, but the big brothers never lowered the guns they had pointed at him. They still didn’t trust him. Duly noted.
“Is Sanchez going to let you kill me or does he plan to do it himself? Sha asked.
“That, I do not know. I think he wants me to get you lowered enough so that he can slip in and do you. But that’s not going to happen as long as I’m here.”
“You really do plan to help us…” Sha came closer to him, touching his shoulder. Chris remained very, very still. He had to. He simply looked at her as she touched him. It had seemed like she extended her arm in slow motion, and he could see her pulse beat in the inside of her elbow, right where the forearm connected to the upper arm, and beneath her skin a faint blue-green vein called to him. The motion was mesmerizing, as was the scent that the shifted air carried when she reached for him. And listening to her thoughts, she wanted him to stay with her tonight…to love her hard and fast, then tender, so she didn’t have to think about what the next night would bring. Had she any idea what he could do to her?
“I know you got a torch for my baby sis and all, brother, but you need to check them heat-seeking looks toward her while she’s got six armed brothers and a mama who can kick your a*s up in here.” Chuck spoke up. Chris nodded and stepped back from Sha and let her hand drop. He didn’t step back because of Chuck’s warning, but because Sha’s touch did something to him and he had to back away before he took her right in front of all of them. Not a good look, her crew would slay him on the spot. He had to get out of there. Sha was a telepath--even if he wasn’t sending, she was receiving, and that was messing him up bad.
“Chuck, please.” Sha cast a glance over to him. “He’s not looking at me any kind of way. Can we please stick to the matter at hand?”
“Say what you want Sha, but I don’t trust him. He admitted himself that his mission is to get your guard down. That’s what he’s doing right now, can’t you see it?” Chuck frowned.
“Maybe I should go, Sha. Your people aren’t really comfortable with me being here right now.”
“D*mn right we aren’t!” Drew spoke up from his place at the far edge of the room. A half hidden 9mm was tucked into the waistband of his pants.
“Okay, I told you all as much as I know, and I know you guys don’t trust me. I want to help Sha anyway. Least I could do. So how about ya’ll kill those lights so I can be out.” Chris stepped back. Sha’s second touch stopped him and messed up his cool. He could feel another hug pending and that was not the thing for her to do right now. He had to go. If she didn’t back off now, he going to drop fang up in here, possibly take out her fam, and take her back to his lair, prematurely.
“Don’t go, Chris. Stay…and be on our side. You don’t have to go back to him.” Sha, to the Guardians’ disbelief, pulled him closer to her. He had opened his mouth to urge her to let him go, and she’d filled it with her own. Just like that. Right there. No argument. Her brethren were left dumbfounded. Kenya stood paralyzed, wringing her hands. It happened so fast, a split-second reflex. Had been a long time coming---but still blew him away.
It was then that something inside of him snapped. His fingers became tangled in her hair, while his hand slid down the center of her back, and they’d hit a wall by the door with force, the kiss between them unbroken. He could feel the Guardians moving in on them but he didn’t care, until his fangs started lowering. One nicked her tongue and he tasted blood in his mouth. He felt his body reacting to it. He was going to lose it and take her throat! Chris abruptly pushed Sha away from him, and pulled the door open, almost taking it off the hinges, not even caring that they hadn’t killed the U.V. lights that surrounded the house. He sped through them, scarring parts of his flesh. What did he care? His skin would recover and it was too late to burst into flames anyway. Just a few minutes with Sha, and he was already burning.

Chapter 6
Chapter 6
“I don’t believe this sh*t!” Dauntae was standing on the weapons table raising a crossbow at the vacant doorway. Shawn was freaking out. Ram and Chuck were glaring hard at Sha. Kenya was walking in a circle brandishing her stake. Jay had a Glock nine frozen between both hands as he stood with his mouth open near Drew who was cussing up a storm…and the only thing Sha could do was gently wipe her lips with the back of her hand, savoring the taste of Chris as she studied the wall. She closed her eyes and put her fingers on the window pane that face the front of the street. She could still feel him there, standing across the road summoning the strength not to break down the door for her. She called to him in her mind, wanting him to come back and finish what he started, and told him she had always wanted him. His response was immediate.
If I had of known…trust me, I would have never let you go. Had I known tonight, I would have carried you past the lights to my lair. Just come to me!
Oblivious to the chaos around her, she connected beyond the house’s perimeter to mentally meet him. Instinct told her not to, cautioned her not to go there or open up a return response, but she found herself tilting her head, opening herself fully to him.
It’s all yours, baby…just get me out of her. I’m guarded.
He put his hand to the prison glass of invisible distance that separated them. She opened her eyes and met it, raising her palm to the glass, spreading her fingers---it left a pang that traveled. She closed her eyes again and could literally see him exactly where he was standing, washed with moonlight, full of adrenaline, needing to hunt, needing more of her, his chest expanding and contracting, breaths now coming faster, he sensed her locking in to feel him again, to hunt him. They needed to stop playing like this…it was going to get him in trouble.
What? Don’t play with him? Who was playing right now? He’d heard her and sent another response to her.
Please come to me, come outside. I can’t take it, baby.
“Okay.” She said out loud. She started for the door. Whatever her guardians said, she was out.
Suddenly she was shaken hard. Dazed, Sha looked around. Kenya’s grip tightened. A pair of wise eyes held hers; a hand touched her damp face, trying to break the spell that Chris had on her. The voice in her head grew stronger.
Don’t listen to Kenya, don’t listen to any of them---this is about me and you!
The guardians would just have to back off and deal with her decision, and let her out of there. This wasn’t a democratic decision, something the group had to vote on---she was grown and she was out.
“I’ve gotta go,” she whispered, hoping Kenya would understand.
“Right now, he’ll hurt you.” Kenya blocked her and her lips began to move quietly. Slowly, but surely, she could hear the rest of the group speaking in panicked chaos. Only when Sha could push herself away from the window, did Kenya move away. Time immediately snapped back in place. There was no way to tell if she’d been locked into him for a few seconds or a few hours. She was disoriented. She turned back toward the window and looked out. Chris was gone.
“I couldn’t even get a shot off,” Dauntae hollered, his crossbow aimed at nothing. “If I did, I would have gotten them both….sh*t.”
“We just had a flat-out in house breach! I can’t believe it!” Shawn was yelling.
“A breach? Motherf*cker, this was a full-scale invasion!” Chuck screamed.
“I’m gonna stab that slick bastard, Chris----watch and see, I’mma blow his a*s up--coming up in here to our girl like he was bringing flowers---and pull some sh*t like that!”
“I’m going to have that motherf*cker seen. I’ma kill him up good!” Drew said, while pacing around the room.
“Wait, guys,” Ram said, making them all stop. “This is some valuable info, dude. If we have to go against one made before Santiago, and at the top of the food chain--we just learned a lot about how Sanchez and Santiago function. Santiago rolled in on us like he was a godd*mned master! Santiago just got made--which means he’s a second generation vamp, you dig? We all know how strong they are and the reaction the male seconds get when in the presence of a huntress. I don’t think he meant to lose his cool. I believe his fangs came out unintentionally when he kissed baby girl and might have nicked her tongue. He got a taste of her blood and went crazy.”
“Which is why I wasn’t about to let her go outside when he called to her, and put her under that mind spell. His bloodlust was taking over from getting some of her blood. He wanted more. If she would have went outside, he would have torn open her throat.” Kenya said to the shocked guardians.
Perhaps none were as shocked or as ashamed as Sha was upon hearing what had happened while under mind control. She almost walked her own ass to her death! No wonder Ken had said she wasn’t ready to roll alone at night. She wouldn’t have stood a chance in this state with second level vamps and masters running around.
“Deep part of it was,” Ram said very slowly, “ he wanted her so bad you could feel the electricity in the air--it’s still crackin’ in here. But he didn’t bite her. That’s real strange. You could see it on his face; he was trying to show respect, but lost it when she went to him. But he didn’t take her throat then and there, or pull her out of here, which he could have done.”
“That’s right, he didn’t.” Sha murmured. It was the first thing she’d been able to say since mayhem had broken out.
“You okay, sis?” Dauntae asked quietly. ”Like the lights in here ain’t bothering you, or nothing, right?
“I’m fine. I’m just sort of ashamed of how I behaved. But I can help how I felt. I mean, I felt it when I kissed him. His fangs dropped….and I could hear him in my head…I tasted my own blood…but I wasn’t afraid. Strangely enough, I felt safe wrapped up in his arms, even with the fangs. Somebody tell me why did he help us? I mean, if he was truly evil?”
“Because…he loved you once. I think.” Kenya whispered. “If he had truly wanted to hurt you, he would have done it the moment he stepped over the threshold. One day he will though. We both know that. Stay away from him.”
XXX
The taste of blood in his throat had temporarily sated him. He leaned back from the island in the middle of the kitchen and kicked his feet up on the corpse he had just fed off of. The dead man had been one of Sanchez’s human helpers, a butler. He hadn’t meant to kill the man but he just happened to find himself in the presence of a very pissed off and very hungry vampire. The others stayed out of the kitchen, they were right to. He was still kind of hungry.
The noise behind him didn’t make him start, just growl. If it were more human helpers, they’d better heed the growl or end up dinner. If it was Sanchez, he really didn’t care. Right now he wasn’t afraid of anything…especially not Sanchez. Chris stood from his seat and turned slowly.
“Whew…” Sanchez said quietly, his expression awed as he rounded the center island, and Chris squared off on him. But Sanchez’s tone wasn’t threatening; it was oddly reverent. Chris watched him, his snarl becoming a deeper growl coming from inside his chest.
“If I didn’t know any better,” Sanchez’s gaze washed over Chris. “I’d swear you were a master. There is not even a flicker of deference or fear in your eyes. Being in the huntress’s presence has that effect?”
“If you touch me, reach out to wipe a drop of sweat off my brow, you’ll draw back a nub. I promise you.”
Sanchez smiled, and simply inhaled. “My friend, I don’t need to. Contact high is in the air. You were magnificent tonight! My trackers and I followed you to the huntress’s house. We all watched you arrive, call her right through the barriers--just breach the compound and slice through prayer lines. It was the most awesome piece of undercover work, and demonstration of pure lust--power--I have ever experienced. We stood out there watching you--awed.”
Chris relaxed his stance and smiled.
“You seduced her to tell a team of seasoned guardians to literally turn off the lights? We were all out there just dumbfounded, looking at each other. We watched you enter over the threshold. You stood before guardians, Santiago! Brilliant execution! Then fed them some bull****, and took her--right in front of them, paralyzed them, and slammed through UV light on your way out! A brand new second did all of this?” I mean, we were in a state of pure awe. Back out on the street, you looked back at her house and through UV---called her again and she tried to come to you? Her guardians had to hold her back from your call…a ****in’ vampire huntress? Unheard of!”
Chris could only smile again and accept the praise.
“I am so proud of you. This deserves an award…a nice little dinner.” Sanchez snapped his fingers.
To Chris’s horror, upon Sanchez’s signal, two vampires that he recognized as being two of his murdered homeboys came bouncing down the kitchen steps with a young teenaged girl. Dannie and Jermaine had been his boys from way back, now they were vampires like him, and two of Krystal’s victims.
“Yo, hombre!” Dannie called out in his valley boy accent. “Look what we’ve got.”
“Que pasa stranger!” Jermaine came up and dapped Chris. Chris, however kept his eyes on the girl with them. She was high. Couldn’t have been no more than fourteen---same age as Sha was when she stayed with him. Chris shook his head. She was in a den--a freakin’ lair with vampires and had no way out.
“Look, she’s too young. Dannie and Jermaine can tell you, I never did them this young.” Chris turned toward Sanchez who only smiled.
“That’s because you’ve never had a young one before. Tastes like veal--tender. Smell her, Santiago.”
“No, man.” Chris said…the girl reminded him too much of Sha at that age. “Send her back to her mom.”
“Who do you think gave her to us?” Sanchez chuckled.
“I’ll do her,” Jermaine said anxiously, retracting his fangs before the girl saw them. “Chris always was a picky eater.”
The young girl swayed on her feet, glanced around at the four males in the kitchen and giggled. “D*mn, all of ya’ll is fine. You can all take turns. I don’t care.”
Chris shook his head turning away from the girl. “Send her somewhere else. I can’t do that.”
“See, he’s a punk,” the child said boldly, motioning to Chris and sauntering over to Sanchez, who just smiled again.
“No, baby, you just aren’t woman enough for him. Pity.” Sanchez cooed to the girl.
“I can be.” she pouted.
“This one isn’t worth it. Not my type.” Chris said, keeping his tone even and casual. He neared the girl, sniffed her, and turned up his nose and shook his head while his insides churned from the tension.
“I’m worth it, I can show you.” The girl laughed. The vampires around her laughed too.
Chris stared at her. He spoke to her inside her head.
Baby, sometimes you ought to let sleeping dogs lie…sometimes when the big bad wolf says he’ll pass, you ought to let him. You might want to be in the mix, but some company you don’t wanna keep.
“We gonna eat or what?” Dannie smiled. “I’m hungry as a motherf*cker, and Chris is just playing with his food…walking around, sniffing it, trying to decide, and just looking at it hard.”
Chris watched without being able to get between the child and Sanchez’s body fast enough. Sanchez’s hands had gone to the sides of the child’s face, and she closed her eyes and leaned up to offer her mouth with a smile. It happened so quickly that Chris barely had time to blink. Sanchez’s fangs ripped from his gums while the child’s eyes were still closed. His mouth covered her nose, lips, and had blown a powerful breath. Her lungs expanded, her ribs cracked, blood ran out her ears, then emptied the sockets that had once contained her pretty eyes. Her back had exploded, sending quivering meet and organs flying, and then Sanchez calmly dropped her at his feet. He looked down at the blood and gore on his suit, sneered in disgust and snapped his fingers. A new suit appeared on his body. Chris looked down at the girl’s body, mouth gaped.
“Well, ****, don’t just stand there,” Dannie laughed. “have a rib!” Dannie closed his eyes and moaned when he puts bits of flesh into his mouth.
The fact that saliva was building in his mouth as he watched them eat upset Chris so badly that he had simply walked out.
“Oh well,” Jermaine shrugged, shoving a kidney into his mouth. “More food for us.”
TBC....maybe...
