We relinquish our hearts and let them go
I pass through the rows.
In search of meaning and the wisdom of sages.
Tranquil and silent the bookstore looms
with shelves of books and of pages.
Nothing seems to awaken the depths
of my beleaguered soul.
A thousand of years of humanity
would not fill this empty hole.
Lights flicker and hum
as I shuffle slowly through the store.
We search for answers to life’s questions,
meanings and more.
Out of the corner of my eye a glory sublime.
A beautiful creature so compelling and fine,
I have no words that come close to describe,
The powerful effect the images prescribe.
Like a rare flower delicate and perfectly formed,
There can be no greater emotion adorned.
These images, these lines, they call to my soul,
They delicately and skillfully fill the empty hole.
Five million years we men evolve,
not knowing the mystery,
we seek to solve.
Only knowing the plot,
Is to find what is hot.
Never ending the search.
More often than not…
Behind those eyes striking and clear,
We see the woman we both love and fear.
Not knowing for certain why it melts us so,
we relinquish our hearts and let them go.
Where they end up?
We may never… ever… know…
