Now what makes a regular joe blow think they are qualified to run a record business? No matter what business you are into the bottomline is and will always be "Sales" if you sell shoes, tampons, cake, music or your image. Marketing is more than just passing out flyers and sending out emails. There is research, analytical data to identify trends, flucations, etc.. You have to understand shyt like this. Think about Coke and Pepsi, they co-exist but they compete but they never low ball themselves, the prices of either one are pretty consistent unless one runs a special but other than that a 2 liter is 1.49. you don't pepsi keep going lower to compete because both know that there is a bottomline that has to be met. Unfortunately if you don't have this training you wouldn't understand the real principals behind everything in business. Thats why you suppose to go to school
This is all interesting. But a part of what you're talking about here MusicPro is how the cats in the big leagues play in the corporate arena, where they got million dollar budgets to work with. I'm talking about on a much smaller playing field level. But like you said, sales IS the bottomline in ANY kind of business though, whether it be big corporate America or a mom and pop store, or just one individual trying to sell widgets on a website.

Either way, I'd rather Carol marika gets the attention she deserves. Didn't plan for the thread to become this.

Btw, what school would urban Models go to? "Kat William's School for the Thick and Gifted?" "Snoop's Pimpin U"(niversity)?
Only thing these urban models need to do I think, just from my individual studies from cats like Dan Kennedy, is just learn the bare basics of marketing and promoting a service or product (which would be their own image in this case). When MBK Entertainment was in Melyssa's corner he found a way to make that urban market work for her. Tiara Harris found a way, so did Buffie. THAT is where urban models need to go to to start looking for clues to success in this arena I think.

Re: Carol Marika

Promotions and marketing are two TOTALLY different things. This is misconception number one!

Why does this has to be corporate??? If you really want to get to know something you will invest the extra time. What urban models do is not branding!! It is street level promotions. A real brand is very selective of where, what, who and how they do it with. Why do you think that all major corporations have a branding department and all they do is making sure that everything is in line with how they set up their brand. Look at Cristal, the whole hip hop community was drinking it but in reality they were not happy about it even though they made a gang of money. These models shoot with any and everybody who is willing. You see the same girls being Titanium Girls, Mo Girls, Summer bunnies, etc.. How can you be all of them. You would select one and not make yourself so damn accessible
