Re: Carol Marika
Imax,
It's harder here. Becuase the market in Atlanta is really in its infancy agents want models that can do it all. So they all have to be tall, etc...
Redearth,
Yea, it's hard to make it in urban. I've got a better chance at starting for the Patriots. Models have to have some freakish characteristic nowadays and there is only room for 6-7 people at the top in Urban. And if they do get in a mag, they might get $200-$250 becuase those mags feature so many diffrent girls every issue. I wouldn't really call that exposure at all. And if they get big enough to get on a cover they aren't getting paid for that as talent. Models still have to have a side hustle like parties and mobile deals. Shelf life of a top urban model is maybe 3-4 years. Anyone that doesn't get paid lasts about 1 1/2 years. They burn out quicker then California.
Not to mention urban really is limiting. Not many companies look too any urban models for endorsements, etc...Unless you're a Tomika Skanes or a Sincerely Ward. And if you ever met them, they don't really care much for urban at this point. They're not too good for it. Just really classy, lady-like, and artistic.
I consider urban models entertainers and not "models" per say. There's many on this board that object to those beliefs.
It's the exact opposite for mainstream. They get paid for everything (usually). They just don't get the noterity and most are ok with it.
